Stanley Bush |
![]() For Wanda and Stanley Bush of Mason, horses have been a constant in their lives. Slim and lanky, Stanley began his career as a teen-aged jockey, racing quarter horses and thoroughbreds during the 1940’s. About the time his weight caught up with his height, Stanley was introduced to the world of cutting horses by Matlock Rose. After riding only two weeks, Stanley took second in his first cutting event in Kerrville, the first of many wins over an illustrious 46 years of cutting and training. The list of horses Stanley has ridden and trained is notable, names like Royal King, Phoebe Chess, and Royal Chess, a horse he rode to the NCHA Hall of Fame in 1970. Stanley’s last cutting was in Stephenville at the 50th anniversary NCHA Legends Cutting atop Dry N Freckled. In addition to the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, Stanley has been inducted into the NCHA Riders and Members Halls of Fame. |
